Mares
The mares are the foundation of the stud farm. We perform a strict selection before we take a mare into our breeding mare stock. If we can, we ride the mare or have her ridden and as much as possible, we want the mares to be assessed under the saddle. This gives us as good an impression of the mare as possible.
Character is very important, because a horse that does not work with you or which is ‘jumpy’ is not a pleasure to ride. Breeding is a gamble, but we can limit the gambling factor as much as possible by starting with top quality parent animals!
Myrra, Sif, Valdís, Rósa, Elja and Skör are our mares in the Netherlands.
We also have mares in Iceland: Magna, Vaka, Gy∂ja and Seytla.
Naturally you can find out everything about them in the menu opposite.
Every year we use some of our three-year old mares for breeding.
